Milan

Settimana della moda is Italian for Milan Fashion Week held in Milan, Italy. It is held twice a year, one for autumn/winter in February/March and another later in the year for spring/summer in September/October. Hundreds of fashion editors, assistants, stylists, models and the people descend to see what they’ll be wearing for the next year. Milan fashion week is a part of the big four worldwide fashion weeks including Paris, London, and New York. The schedule for all of the fashion weeks open with New York, followed by London, and then Milan, and ending with Paris.

Milan Fashion Week is partly organized by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, The National Chamber for Italian Fashion. Giovanni Battista Giorgini organized a number of shows in Palazzo Pitti in Florence, Italy getting inspiration from Eleanor Lambert which began shows in Paris. Emilio Pucci and Missoni grasped the opportunity and attracted the attention of all the fashion industry. In 1975, the first Settimana della moda calendar of fashion shows was presented in Milan. Today, Milan is recognized internationally as one of the world’s most important fashion capitals.
